MEET THE KEY PEOPLE WHO REALLY MAKE SURE THINGS GET DONE!
Being a 24 hour facility and having cage-free sleepovers, we need a lot of staff! We generally have about 20 staff working for us at any given time, most of whom are full time. Pictured here are our senior staff members.
Starting at the beginning, when you walk in the door you meet the reception team: Penni Phillips is also an old friend from our Houston Zoo days and is the only one still actively serving as a Docent at the zoo, now in her 18th year! Penni left a long career in corporate travel to join our team in 2004 as Guest Services Manager. She keeps the front desk running smoothly and heads up our team of guest service counselors. Penni is an Pet Care Services Association Certified Pet Care Technician. She shares her home with three pets: a rescued Greyhound, Ziggy, as well as 2 cats, Scotty and Pandora. She is active with Greyhound rescue. Penni is pictured here with Zep.
Glenda Roewe joined us in summer of 2010 as our Senior Receptionist. Glenda was born and raised in Missouri and is a huge animal lover. Her most recent pets were a Newfoundland named Otis and a Great Dane named Chumley. Glenda enjoys pottery, jewelery making, and reading. She is pictured here with Berkley.
Amber McCarty joined the Urban Tails team in 2009. She is our full time greeter in our guest services center. Amber's customer service experience and positive attitude ensure all of our guests are happy and comfortable when visiting Urban Tails. Amber is currently attending school and shares her home with a chihuahua, Maxwell, and a new husky/border collie puppy named Buddy Rae.
Domonique Davis joined us in October 2009 and is our guest service counselor. She has many years of experience in customer service and assisting in guest reservations. Domonique is the proud mama of a small chihuahua puppy named Bella and is a constant companion to our house cats Urbie and Roxy.
Jeremy Williams joined us in August 2008 and is our marketing, events and social media person. You can usually see him at pet-related events around Houston representing Urban Tails and planning special parties, art classes, and field trips for our dogs. He is also a volunteer at the city shelter. Jeremy recently graduated from the University of Houston with a degree in Sociology and shares his home with a poodle mix named Lexington and a small cat named Stacy.
Now for the staff that the dogs know best, those puppy huggers behind the glass door:
Nancy Parsley joined Urban Tails in 2002 and has worked her way up to Hospitality Supervisor. She is quite passionate about animals and still finds it hard to believe that we pay her to work in a doggie daycare with all the wonderful dogs and cats! She has extensive knowledge of all of our dogs and is responsible for our dog daycare and cage-free sleepovers. Nancy is an Pet Care Services Association Advanced Certified Pet Care Technician and is also certified in Pet First Aid and CPR. She has additionally taken Pet Tech classes in dental and senior pet care. Nancy shares her home with 2 dogs and 2 cats. Nancy is pictured here with Lucy.
Marina Trehern joined us in 2002 as our primary Pet Stylist and is now also our Spa Supervisor. She graduated as a Professional Groomer from Job Pops Grooming School in April 2000 and is quite the artist! Her gentle & loving touch has brought her many loyal and happy clients, including an ever increasing parade of older dogs and puppies who need that little bit of extra loving. Marina is responsible for all of our animal bathing and grooming services and is assisted by our team of bathers. She shares her home with two pooches: Princess, a Shetland Sheepdogs and Bert, a Miniature Schnauzer. There are several other critters with fur and feathers that also share her home. In this role she keeps things running smoothly on our play floors. When Corinda first started working with us she did not own a dog. She enjoyed her work with dogs at Urban Tails so much that she now is the proud mama of a cute little dog named Lucky.
Justin Smith had been with us for awhile as a Hospitality Counselor. He recently was promoted to Hospitality Coordinator. He has been an asset to Corinda. He is very caring and highly motivated when it comes to the animals. We are very lucky to have him in our corner. He has a Westie named Whiskey and a Dobie mix named Gin.
