For those working parents in the “Oh my gosh, I have a puppy!” phase, we have a number of really great programs.

Potty Training
We seem to have become known as the the potty people . . . Our Puppy Potty Programs have proven quite popular and are hugely successful. These programs partner the expertise of our Puppy Potty Trainers with You, the Parent, to give your puppy good potty manners at home. During an initial private consult via telephone or in person, we set goals and design the optimum program based on your unique needs.

Once we have decided on a course of action, we move forward with the appropriate program:

Onsite Puppy Potty Program

Our most popular offering for busy professionals is our Onsite Puppy Potty program. In this program your puppy comes to us Monday thru Friday, during the daytime, for structured potty training while you are at work. When your puppy is at home, you pick up the ball and continue the training following the guidelines we have jointly worked out.

While in the program, your puppy's day consists of:

Nap Times

Potty Breaks

Lunch

Play Times (with people & other puppies)

    LOTS and LOTS of Cuddle Time (we're not sure if cuddle time is for
            the puppies or for us. Regardless, they get lots of it . . . and they call it
            Puppy Love . . . )

What are the benefits of this program? Astronomical.

    You and your puppy have a personal potty trainer/coach to work with
             you step by step

Your puppy is potty trained (for real!)

    You can keep your carpet and your lunch hours

What is the cost of this program? It's HUGE.   Compared to re-flooring your house? It's CHEAP.

Let's detail the cost to you:

    Commitment - Monday thru Friday for anywhere from 2 - 10 weeks.
            The length of your program will be based primarily on the age of your
             puppy when it enters the program and your consistency at home.

    Frequent meetings with the potty trainers to discuss your puppy's
             progress both at home and at Urban Tails.

    The cost of this program is amazingly comparable to our daycare
             rates. Please have your people call our people for a personal estimate.

                                        Board & Potty

Due to repeated requests, we have also begun offering a more intensive Board & Potty program. In this program your puppy comes to stay with us for 2 or more weeks for an intensive focus on potty training. The puppy is at Urban Tails during open hours Monday - Saturday, nights and Sunday they go home with one of our trainers. It is rare that this program will actually get them 100% potty trained in the few weeks we have them. What it will do is get the foundation and motivation laid to get you kick started at home. With this program you also sleep more soundly, unfortunately we don't! So guess what? This one costs even more. Have your Admin call our Admin for more information.

Board, Train & Potty

Now, if you REALLY want a jump start, we also now offer a Board/Train/Potty option that has become quite successful. With this program not only does your puppy get their foundation in potty manners, they also get obedience and safety training with an occasional trick thrown in to amuse the trainers. You may have to call our trainers yourself for an estimate on this one . . .

Due to high demand, limited space and protests from our trainers' significant others and pets, there is usually a waiting list for all of our potty programs. If you think you are interested in these programs, don't procrastinate, call soon. "Puppy season" is here!

Our Puppy Potty Programs are open to puppies 6 weeks of age and up. Parents can be any age.

Puppy 101 - Our crash survival course for new parents
Is your puppy terrorizing you? Has it been so long since you had a puppy you are in a little bit of shock? Never had a puppy before? If your arms look like battle fields from sharp little teeth, your furnishings are not your own anymore and your house is developing a unique odor, our Puppy 101 private sessions may be for you. In these sessions we come to your house to give you a crash course in raising the little darlin' while keeping your sanity.

Puppy Day Boarding & Socialization
If you have a puppy that is too young to leave at home and too young for daycare, we have Puppy Day Boarding. Your puppy can come hang out in our luxury lofts during the day while also getting some social playtime with other puppies or appropriate adult dogs. This keeps them out of trouble at home while giving them playtime and honing their social interaction skills at the same time. Short obedience sessions can be added as well. Note that there is no potty training involved with this option so it is best suited for puppies that are having no potty problems at home.

Puppy Play

is a fantastic developmental class for puppies 5 months and under. Due to our revolutionary potty training programs, Urban Tails has long been known in Houston as the "puppy people". It has been a number of years though since we had a puppy kindergarten type of class. This great new class will add to our offerings by covering basic skills for both of you including starter commands (sit, come, leave-it for example), social play with other puppies, grooming/nutrition basics as well as incorporating mental and physical developmental needs. As they grow, puppies need to be exposed to lots of different new experiences to hone their mental and physical abilities. This class will stimulate them to lots of new puppy physical and mental challenges to give them a "paw up" in life. Our mystery instructor for this class has been competing for over 35 years and has taken her breed group at the Westminster dog show. She has been instructing for a number of years and is truly a gifted trainer and instructor.
